Motor racing returns to North Otago with the Ngapara Hillclimb. This historic event was run for a number of years and is returning in 2026. A thrilling 1.6km of sealed surface. This will act at the first round of the 2026-27 OSCC Speed Championship!

The first Ngapara Hillclimb was run by the North Otago Car Club back in 1964. The hillclimb was last run in 2016. The 2026 event will be named after Oamaru's Doug Algie who won the inaugural hillclimb back in 1964 driving his Ford V8 Special. We are excited to bring back action to the hills of North Otago.
